Contemporary sculptor and painter Shiela Sasek was born in San Diego, CA, grew up in New Mexico, and currently resides near Death Valley and Joshua Tree, CA. She usually can be found traveling between different ends of the Mojave desert. Her passion of exploration for creative inspiration began early, and is heavily influenced by her surroundings and love for the outdoors.
Shiela expresses her deep love and appreciation of the outdoors through her works, and is an advocate of ecological preservation. Influenced by vast deserts, dark skies, rare plants, and animal species; she works to find a deeper connection to the natural world. Her art is meant to draw attention to the desert and to inspire others to preserve what she sees in the southwest’s public lands, and natural landscapes in hope that future generations will be able to experience it like she has been able to.
Shielas’ award winning works have been in numerous exhibitions, juried shows, and in private collections over the years. She currently is an artist in residence since 2001, and more recently the co creator/curator of the contemporary art garden at MazAmar Art Pottery in Pioneertown C.A. in addition to her own studio in Nevada.
